Create your own jesmonite jewellery with artist and maker Kim Searle using a variety of geometric and recycled moulds.

Jewellery can be made with pale pastels or vibrant colours, block colours or fantastic marbled effects. Take your creations away with you that day. Learn different finishing techniques, how to add metallic foil and acid etching

Inspired by 70s string art you can make your piece look retro or right up to date with your choice of designs and colours.

Eco Hub have teamed with Kim of  Darn It to bring you this fabulous Macrame workshops. In this workshop we'll turn mosaic tiles, broken crockery and lots of other up-cycled pieces into mosaic works of art. You'll be able to choose from a large choice of base shapes to work on and learn the best adhesives to use on each one.

You'll be given a bag of grout to take home to finish your pieces at a later date - a demo will be done to show you what to do. If you have any objects you'd like to bring to mosaic with, please feel free to.

Create your own punch needle artwork using a wide variety of different colours and textures. Start with a practice with four different types of punch needle tool and 4 different types of fabric. Once you know what works best you'll move onto a bigger piece with a good knowledge of the technique. If you've caught the bug and can't wait to keep going there'll be a variety of tools available to buy so you can keep going at home.

Join Kim at RHS Garden Harlow Carr, in making your own Macrame Plant Hanger from a variety of cords and re-cycled T shirts.  Its the perfect craft for anyone whose window ledges are overflowing with plants.  You will learn a variety of knots needed to make the design of your choice and will leave with a finished piece and knowledge to continue at home.

Create your owncoasters and trinket tray with artist and maker Kim Searle using a variety of moulds. Jesmonite is a versatile material that will create a different outcome every time - you'll learn how to weigh it, mix it, add colours and textural effects to create something unique to you. Create your own miniature plant pots with artist and maker Kim Searle using a variety of geometric and recycled moulds. Jesmonite was named material of the year 2017, have a go and see why! It's a versatile material that will create a different pot every time - you'll learn how to weigh it, mix it, add colours and textural effects to create a pot unique to you. Visible Mending highlights and celebrates the repair process. It is a sustainable way to increase the longevity of the clothes you love and own in a fun and mindful way.

In this session we will cover patching, sashiko stitching, various types of darning, as well as covering a variety of creative embroidery stitches.

You are welcome to bring any clothes that need mending, but your tutor, Kim, will have lots of fabrics on which to try out the techniques.

In this session you'll learn how to upcycle old hard back books into new notebooks using Coptic Book Binding techniques. Coptic book binding creates a book that folds completely flat and is perfect for sketchbooks. Coptic book binding dates back to 2nd Century AD making it one of the oldest forms of book binding.

There will be course notes for you to take home, with information on what tools you've used and where you can get all the stuff you need to bind your own books at home!

This month we'll using shrink plastic, stamps, pens and more to create hand drawn jewellery!  It's really fun to watch shrink!

Create your own hand knotted, braided and woven jewellery from recycled t-shirts and chunky cotton cord. You will learn how to turn t-shirts into yarn, finger knitting, fishtail braids, lark heads knots and medieval loop manipulation braids. There will be lots of embellishments to add to these and you'll learn how to finish off your pieces well.

Rag Rugging is a technique traditionally used to turn rags into textural rags. In this open ended session you'll learn two versatile rag rug techniques that can be used to make a piece of wall art, homewares, a brooch or more. As rag rugging takes a long time to complete you may not finish your piece in the session (but if you opt to do a brooch you will do) but will go away with tools and skills to complete it. There will be a wide range of fabric scraps, recycled materials, colourful rope, buttons and other things to choose from to make your piece unique. This workshop is developed for all abilities.
