Inspired by 70s string art you can make your piece look retro or right up to date with your choice of designs and colours.

All materials will be provided.  Suitable for ages 15+

In this session you will learn how to make your own piece of perfectly hammered string art. We'll be working with nails and brightly coloured string to create vibrant artwork. There will be lots of easy to follow patterns provided, but feel free to bring your own ideas. This involves a lot of hammering so be prepared for that! I'll bring ear plugs.

Healthy & Safety: during the workshop everyone will have their own materials and tools. Sanitiser and disinfectant will be available. If you feel unwell please let us know and stay home.

This workshop is part of Thread Republics pop up at the Piazza. We’ll be running a program of workshops, drop in, activities and more alongside a textile scrap store.

Try out this very 70's (but also on trend!) craft combining nails, hammers and string with geometric designs to create a bold piece of artwork.

There'll be a wide range of templates to choose from and lots of colours to make your piece entirely your own. In two hours you'll be able to create a piece of art from start to finish and you'll have the skills to keep going and making your own at home!

As well as templates I'll be able to provide tips and tricks on making your own designs.
