Visible Mending Workshop at the Craft House
Visible Mending highlights and celebrates the repair process. It is a sustainable way to increase the longevity of the clothes you love and own in a fun and mindful way.
In this session we will cover patching, sashiko stitching, various types of darning, as well as covering a variety of creative embroidery stitches.
You are welcome to bring any clothes that need mending, but your tutor, Kim, will have lots of fabrics on which to try out the techniques.
Cost : £30 per person - includes materials and equiptment usage
Visible Mending Workshop at Kirkstall Forge
This session learn mending techniques that highlight and celebrate the repair process. We'll cover patching with various embroidery techniques, darning and sashiko stitches. Bring clothes to repair or leave with a variety of samples using our fabrics.
This workshop will take place in Butlers at Kirkstall Forge. There's a train station on site and Kirkstall Forge wants to encourage sustainability, but if you'd like a parking space let me know and we can get one arranged. Sadly the cafe will not be open, but you’re welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks.
Safety:
There will be hand sanitiser available, social distancing in place and spaces will be limited. If you feel unwell, have symptoms of covid or have been in contact with anyone who has please let me know so you can be moved onto a future session. If we go into another lockdown this workshop will be postponed until a safe date.
Course conditions:
The workshop needs minimum numbers to run. In the unlikely event it doesn't meet this the workshop will be cancelled. Your booking is secured by payment and if you choose to cancel you get a refund up to 7 days before the event however after that no refund can be given. Please don’t arrive more than 10 minutes before the workshop is due to start unless previously arranged.

This workshop will take place at a Touch of Craft- a new craft space in Ossett! Sadly this space is not wheelchair accessible but I do run this workshop in other more accessible spaces. There are teas, coffees and biscuits available at £1 each, cash only. Feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks too.

'All my workshops are based on encouraging sustainability, building community and supporting attendees well-being.' Kim studied BA (Hons) Textile Crafts at the University of Huddersfield, specialising in textile printing. She also studied weaving, felting, bookbinding, dark room photography and fine art printing at L'Ecole des Beaux Artes at Besancon, The Academy of Design in Kuopio and Leeds University, as well as studying a range of creative techniques on a foundation course at UcCA Canterbury. Kim's workshops are run with a relaxed, informal and inclusive atmosphere, letting people go at their own pace. Materials, guidance and technical assistance are provided but everyone is encouraged to push their own creativity, and most of all have a good time!
