Modern Rag Rug Techniques at Hare Hill Barn
Rag Rugging is a technique traditionally used to turn rags into textural rugs. In this session you will learn two versatile rag rug techniques that can be used to make a piece of wall art, homeware, a brooch or more. As rag rugging takes a long time to complete you may not finish your piece in the session (although if you opt to do a brooch you will) but will go away with tools and skills to complete your piece. There will be a wide range of fabric scraps, recycled materials, colourful rope, buttons and other things to choose from to make your piece unique.
Rag rugging techniques differ historically depending on regional areas. In this session you will be learning techniques that grow quicker than some other ones, and use easy to handle ergonomic tools. All materials and tools are supplied.

Upcycled Mosaic at Hare Hill Barn
In this workshop we will turn mosaic tiles, ceramic tiles, broken crockery and lots of other upcycled pieces into mosaic works of art. You will be able to choose from a choice of base shapes to work on, and learn the best adhesives to use on each one. You can create a range of smaller pieces or one larger piece. You can come prepared with an idea (an image of a landscape works perfectly) or you can decide on the day.
You will be given a bag of grout to take home to finish your pieces at a later date – a demonstration will be done to show you what to do.
If you have any objects you would like to bring to mosaic with, please feel free to do so.
